Mentoring is the cornerstone of what the organization brings to the community by guiding youth in life experiences, fostering a positive self-perception and self-respect, encouraging excellence in education, and the pursuit of positive life-long goals. We develop and foster relationships between members of the 100 Black Men of Los Angeles and Young Black Scholars in order that this relationship would lead to heightened self-esteem for the youth through improved family relations, academic success and social and financial responsibility.

We give recommendation, organization, coordination, and general implementation of programs that contribute to the education of the community in Los Angeles..
Health & Wellness is a vital component of a thriving community. We design health and wellness programs that raise the consciousness of our Young Black Scholars on environmental issues as well as health issues; implementation of health education workshops and screening, and programs regarding violence prevention and conflict resolution. The 100 teams up with other non-profit organizations to promote preventative health strategies deliver screenings and provide education on prevalent African American diseases.
We have established programs that teach the Young Black Scholars how to enhance their reasoning skills and how to develop an entrepreneurial or business plan. We also encourage members to sponsor Black Expos and economic showcases to educate consumers about products and services of Black-owned businesses.
The 100 Black Men of Los Angeles, Inc. began its operations in 1981. The 100BMLA was founded on the precept that we would make a difference in the communities we serve by demonstrating our unconditional support for the enhancement of education for our youth. Among the group's many accomplishments is the major sponsorship of the Young Black Scholars Program.
